ReNUWIT Nitrogen Group Wins Invaluable Advice and Experience as Contest Finalist

Outcome/accomplishment: 

The Nitrogen Group at the Engineering Research Center (ERC) for Re-inventing the Nation’s Urban Water Infrastructure (ReNUWIt), an NSF-funded center headquartered at Stanford University, was selected as one of six finalists in the Imagine H2O (iH2O) competition, a national nonprofit organization that promotes water innovation and entrepreneurship.

Impact/benefits: 

The experience introduced ReNUWIt to the green-tech community and investors in the nation's entrepreneurial capital. The advice received during the competition helped the team to improve its business plan as it moves towards commercialization.

Explanation/Background: 

The Group received free legal services, business advice, publicity, and access to a network of water investors and experts. ReNUWIt’s research on the "CANDO" process for recovering energy from waste nitrogen was presented to a group of venture capitalists, industry representatives, angel investors, and representatives from water utilities, and was featured at a large event with over 200 attendees.
