ERC Partners with New Jersey Entrepreneurial Network to Host Event at Princeton University

Outcome/accomplishment: 

The NSF-funded Mid-Infrared Technologies for Health and the Environment (MIRTHE) Engineering Research Center (ERC), headquartered at Princeton University, partnered with the New Jersey Entrepreneurial Network  (NJEN) to host a March 2016 entrepreneurial event at Princeton.

Impact/benefits: 

This event provided a large entrepreneurial community with an evening of posters, technical discussions, and networking opportunities involving technology entrepreneurs and product concepts from start-up companies, faculty, and students from New Jersey universities as well as the NJ/NY/PA region.

Explanation/Background: 

The event featured a Fireside Chat with Sherwin Seligsohn, a successful serial entrepreneur and founder of Universal Display Corporation. The chat, entitled "From an Academic Curiosity to the Age and Magic of OLEOs (Organic Light Emitting Displays)" was moderated by Joseph X. Montemarano, MIRTHE Executive Director.

Poster presenters had an opportunity to introduce their businesses to important contacts in a variety of communities, including academic s, small and large businesses, potential funding sources, and professional services providers (see figures).
