Researchers Produce Bright X-Rays from Tabletop Lasers Instead of Very Large Facilities-Bright x-ray supercontinua

Bright x-ray supercontinua reaching 1.6 keV are produced by focusing a mid-infrared femtosecond laser into a high-pressure gas-filled waveguide. The output beam is laser-like and coherent.
