Synberc-the application of biosensors in plants

The graphic shows pictures illustrating the application of biosensors in plants. The model plant organism Arabidopsis was engineered to contain a biosensor to detect digoxin. When the plant came into contact with this compound, the biosensor activated the production of luciferase, which acts as a signal. This strategy could be used to detect many biological toxins or other compounds in the environment.
