Figure 1: This diagram shows the interoperable modules and components in the LTB. Based on the concept of modularity and a decoupled architecture, the LTB consists of a grid simulator, which continuously computes power system dynamics, and four system modules: a communication network emulator, a monitoring system representing the measurement and data acquisition devices, an energy management system, and a measurement-based control system. With the data interfaces properly defined, each module runs its routines independently and communicates with other modules through data streaming over the emulated network.
