ERC for Structured Organic Particulate Systems

C-SOPS, the Center for Structured Organic Particulate Systems, is an NSF-funded Engineering Research Center focused on the science-based development of structured organic particle-based products and their manufacturing processes. C-SOPS works closely with industry as well as with the Food and Drug Administration to modernize the pharmaceutical manufacturing processes used in industry. This modernization, based on continuous processing with predictive control, will lead to better product quality at lower costs. In addition to manufacturing science, C-SOPS is also working to develop the next generation of dosage forms, going beyond tablets and capsules. The vision of C-SOPS is to be the national focal point for science-based development of structured organic particle-based products and their manufacturing processes.
