Through the individual ERCs, the ERC Program is committed to offering precollege programs that inform young students about engineering and expose them to hands-on engineering activities in order to spark their interest in pursuing further education and eventually a career in engineering. The Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program has the same aim of expanding the engineering student pipeline. Improving the diversity of engineering students is another important goal of the Program’s “precollege to career” focus.
Some examples of success in this area are:
- Former High School Researcher Noelle Stiles Now Pursues Visionary Postdoctoral Work
- EUV ERC Native American REU Student Becomes Academic Research Leader
