ERC education programs are motivated by a guiding design construct to produce graduates who understand industrial practice and also will be adaptive, creative innovators in a globally connected, innovation-driven world. To that end, instilling the values, motivation, and knowledge necessary for successful entrepreneurship is an important part of an ERC student’s educational experience. This is done not only through special curricula, but also through hands-on work on industrial projects, contact with successful entrepreneurs and innovators, ERC program-sponsored contests to encourage entrepreneurship, and working in industry via internships, summer jobs and other means.

As a result, many ERC students and recent graduates have founded startup companies, often successful ones. Some examples:
