We are a research institute of excellence of the CONACYT Public Center System that generates, transfers and disseminates cutting-edge scientific and technological knowledge, performs technological innovation and forms high-level human resources in the areas of Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Geosciences, Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology, Environmental Sciences and Applied Mathematics, with regional, national and international impact.

Division of Applied Geosciences
The Division of Applied Geosciences has as its mission to be an interdisciplinary group that conducts basic and applied research, and that forms excellent human resources. Solve water problems at the regional and national level in the areas of hydrogeology, meteorology, geology and geophysics applied by carrying out projects, consultancies and services with the social, government and private sector. The Division of Applied Mathematics has as its mission to be a multidisciplinary research group with the function of generating, transferring, applying and disseminating scientific knowledge, technological innovation and training of international quality human resources in Mathematics and its application in Dynamic Systems and Engineering, Power Electronics and Biomathematics for social benefit. It is also proposed to form a decentralized scientific pole that collaborates with research centers and links with the educational, productive and governmental sectors, to contribute to technological innovation at national and international level.
