Research and Innovation Center in Information and Communication Technologies

INFOTEC Center for Research and Innovation in Information and Communication Technologies belongs to the network of Public Research Centers of the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt). Our mission is to make it possible for organizations and people to develop through the appropriation of ICT.
As a public center, focused on ICT research and innovation, it is called to make an increasingly significant contribution in terms of talent training, research development, promotion of innovation and raising standards of service in the National market.
INFOTEC is an institution with more than 40 years of life dedicated, from its origins in 1974, to favor the circulation of knowledge, although, initially it was focused on the information of industrial novelty. At present, at our headquarters in Mexico City and Aguascalientes we make it possible to implement key projects to accelerate Mexico's progress in the information and knowledge society. Additionally, we have a postgraduate academic offer (seven master's degrees and a doctorate), with unique master's degrees in Mexico aimed at developing the skills and competencies that the ICT industry demands.

Research Areas: 

The research carried out in INFOTEC is aimed at generating knowledge and its application in the field of ICT for the development of technological products and services, and models and methodologies for national growth.
Therefore, we can affirm that in INFOTEC we have diverse fields of knowledge, which represent trends in ICT, globally, and result in research projects that directly affect the development of key sectors of the country. These projects are aimed at:
ICT development: generation of products, designs, processes or services with ICT application
Innovative ICT management: projects associated with the implementation and evaluation of technologies in industrial, governmental and / or social contexts
ICT regulation: analysis of the relationship between the constitutional and legal framework associated with ICT and its impact on human rights, intellectual property, security, among others
Appropriation of ICT: studies and research that provide knowledge about the processes to incorporate technologies into daily life
INFOTEC participates in the program of national laboratories of Conacyt with the creation of the National Internet Laboratory of the Future (LaNIF), also has the Laboratory of Computational Analytics of Large Information Clusters (LABD), the Laboratory of Embedded Systems (LabSE) and the ICT Appropriation Laboratory (LAPTIC), which are installed in Infotec Aguascalientes.

Linking and Services
INFOTEC has contributed through its experience and specialties in the planning of strategic government systems, in the development of the national e-Government strategy, in the creation of various citizen portals and in the promotion of the development of digital cities. In research and teaching activities, INFOTEC is considered as a strategic center in ICT and maintains relations with different government agencies in the federal, state and municipal spheres, as well as with public and private institutions and with society in general. This plural and extensive linkage has strengthened us as a public center of innovation and technological development and distinguishes us as a key player in this sector.

The services that INFOTEC provides to the public and private sectors are supported by the following technological infrastructure: LAN / WAN and wireless networks; IP telephony and video telephony; technologies for mobile users; infrastructure for operation schemes in virtual offices; high availability data center; handling of processing platforms; external storage for servers; administration and control of web applications and corporate databases, information security in networks; disaster recovery and continuity plans; service levels with a focus on the business; as well as open source content management software.

INFOTEC has the TIER III Design international certifications in its Aguascalientes data center and the ISO / IEC 20000-1: 2011 certification, as well as the Mexican standard NMX-I-20000-1-NYCE 2012.
